Bathrooms are often forgotten when it comes to decorating the house. Sure, it’s not somewhere you spend too much time in – but it is where you clean yourself, so shouldn’t it look like an appealing place too?

Luckily, there are plenty of ways to make your bathroom look more sophisticated. Here are some of our ideas.

Go for white or an aqua coloured decoration

There is a reason why most bathrooms are white or cream; it looks good. However, aqua colours – pale blues and greens – could also make an appearance on your colour scheme too.

Maybe you could paint the walls white and just add some blue and green touches, for example, towels or bath mats. Try to keep strictly to two or three colours; otherwise it will get confusing.

Contrast your splashback

Your bathroom sink splashback should be a contrasting colour to the walls. If most of the room is white, you could opt for the bathroom splashback to be turquoise. For extra co-ordination, you could try to get towels and bath mats the same colour as your splashback.

Invest in a roll-top bath

Roll-top baths look old fashioned, but there’s something about them that screams ‘bathroom sophistication’. They aren’t the cheapest, but they add a lovely appeal to the bathroom – so if you are getting your whole bathroom redone, think about investing!

Choose a rain shower

Equally, if you are changing your whole bathroom, think about installing a rain shower. Not only do these showers feel amazing, but they give a certain air of sophistication to the room.

Think about bathroom plants

Plants? In a bathroom? Why not? If you have a spare corner of your bathroom that needs something there (be careful not to clutter the space though), why not pop a plant there. Something that’s low maintenance is ideal, although it will be easy to water! If you don’t want to have to worry about caring for a real plant, there are lots of realistic fake plants that you can add to the space as well.

There you have it, some ideas for a sophisticated bathroom! Whether you have a whole new bathroom being installed or just want to make some changes, hopefully this article has shown you that you shouldn’t forget your bathroom when decorating!
